Time for a new adventure.
After 40 years of corporate work, building businesses and generally doing the usual daily slog, in 2023 we started looking for a new adventure as we were not yet ready to retire. Having seen and visited many 'wrecks' and other vineyard-based properties, we found this beautiful old maison de maître sitting up on the hill overlooking the Dordogne river valley together with 20+ hectares of land and vines.
Situated between Bergerac (20 minutes) and Bordeaux (1 hour) in the Périgord Pourpre, and surrounded by beautiful medieval bastides, villages and châteaux, it is a glorious and easily accessible place to be. For more active folks the rolling hills are perfect for cyclists, golf is around the corner, and one of the oldest rowing clubs is in Bergerac, together with many restaurants including Michelin-starred to reward your endeavours. There is also plenty to do in and around the river and lakes.
With the château's origins dating back to the 16th century, it was most recently owned by an American family who developed it into an award-winning vineyard based on the same superb terroir as that of the Bordeaux region (think St. Emillion, Pomerol, Margaux, Pauillac, Graves, Sauternes and the dessert wines of Montbazillac!). Sadly after their passing, the estate became abandoned.
Our vision is to recover the vineyards and get wine production back to award-winning ways, and at the same time fully renovate the château, adding luxurious accommodation and creating a fabulous setting for our guests.
Follow our progress as we bring the estate back to life.
